Kaala Chana Chaat -- Black Chickpeas & Potato Chaat

It kinda feels weird to be writing in a recipe after a long long time. But I've always wanted to share this simple Chaat recipe with you guys, So on a whim, I decided to type in this recipe at midnight when the household is nice & quiet. Better now or never :)

This probably is one of the healthiest ways to relish a chaat &it makes for a light evening snack with a cuppa Chai


You Will Need:

  • Half a cup of Black Chickpeas - Soaked for atleast 6 hours or overnight
  • 2 medium sized Potatoes
  • 1 small sized red onion - finely chopped
  • 1 Tomato - finely chopped 
  • 1/2 tsp Roasted Jeera Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dry Mango/Amchur Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Salt/Kaala Namak
  • A squirt of lime juice 
  • Fresh Coriander for garnish 
How To:

Pressure cook chickpeas until soft. Drain & set aside. 

Pressure cook or steam the potatoes until fully cooked yet firm, allow it to cool & peel the skin & dice them

Finely chop the onions, tomatoes & coriander and set aside

In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients & mix well. Adjust taste accordingly

Garnish with coriander & spoon them into individual bowls & serve 

You can also add a dash of Sev or crushed Papdi on top for that crunch
